Religion, Diversity and can't we keep our own beliefs

I am getting tired of all the candidates and everyone else in office trying to out relgious each other. Why do they have to prove their faith. At this point I would prefer a quiet athiest who at least doesn’t think they have messages from god that determine how they govern.

I rather people keep their religious beliefs out of politics. I don’t want to keep hearing how Jews and everyone else who doesn’t believe in Jesus is going to hell and then give a fauxpology when they are called on it. From what I know about Jesus his message was about love, accepting and sharing, and not condemnation. I think that is what this whole month is about with so many different holidays and rituals and the New Year.

Lets spend more time learning about each other, and appreciate and enjoy the symbols of our beliefs but not try to outbelieve or out high morals each other. Lets let go of some of our judgements and try to understand and get to know each other this coming year.

I’m also irritated by stupid people who think that diversity around the holidays mean you can’t have Xmas trees unless you call them holiday trees, and people can’t decorate their own cubicle or have no party at work because it would be a holiday, or end of the year party and they take their toys and go home.

I like when people are able to share traditions without trying to convert others but they do welcome them to participate. I attend the church across the street from my house on Xmas Eve for their caroling service and run into a lot of Jewish people. No one tries to convert us and they make us feel welcome.

Tomorrow night I”M having people over for a hanukah party with Latkes, candles and dreidls. Most of the people aren’t Jewish and they help me cook. My purpose is to share, not to convert. there are people coming who are Catholic, Baptist, AME, Methodist, Buddhist and atheist, and agnostic. We all share traditions together and learn and eat. but there is too much religious purism taking over this country at the governing and leadership level..
